coLab Bingo: The Fun Coworking Themed Game You Never Knew You Wanted

At coLab, we’re serious about work, but we’re also serious about fun.

(How serious? It’s one of our five Core Values.)

Having fun while you work is something we prize quite dearly, and something that we want to encourage all of our members to do. That fun could take a variety of different forms – whether a friendly game of foosball, a well-timed and workplace-appropriate joke, or a group lunch with other coLabbers, there’s no shortage of ways to have fun while getting your work done.

And in an effort to help our members have even more fun, we’ve come up with our own coworking-themed game: coLab Bingo!

If you’re feeling bored, or if you need to give your brain a break, coLab Bingo is a great way to unwind, have some fun, and refocus.

So how do you play coLab Bingo? Here’s what you need to know.

coLab Bingo: Like Bingo, But Cooler

We all know how bingo works. Grab a card, wait for the caller to list off some numbers, and then lament the pain your soul feels when you’re one away from a line but then the caller just starts shouting everyone’s numbers but yours.

In other words, bingo is the worst. But coLab Bingo is the best, because you actually get to tailor your bingo card based on things you know about the space and the people in it! Nifty, right?

So here’s the deal: To play coLab Bingo, all you have to do is print out a handy-dandy card with a 5×5 grid on it, fill it with all the coLab cliches that you know & love (remember that the middle is a free space), and then mark them off as they occur on some random Friday (or some random Tuesday, whatever fits your style). Once you get a full line of 5 boxes in a row? That’s when you get to stand up and say, “Bingo!”

(Just try not to be too loud if there are people on the phone. Don’t want to interrupt important client calls, right? On second thought, maybe just posting “Bingo!” in the coLab Slack channel is the safer option.)

Pro coLabber Tips for Crafting a Winning Bingo Card

The secret to winning a game of bingo is to have the right card. So when you’re designing your coLab Bingo card, you’ll want to make sure you position common occurrences in important spots on the card, while also factoring in the randomness of a coworking space with some less-common things that are still quite conceivable in some of the peripheral spaces.

In other words: It helps to know the goings-on at coLab. Consider this an incentive to get more involved in the community & learn more about the other members. (Nudge nudge.)

coLab Bingo is fun and easy to play, and no two cards will ever be the same. There are lots of different configurations your card could take, and lots of  coLab quirks & occurrences (“coLabisms”) that could easily fit in your bingo card – but how you position them could determine whether you win or lose.

Here’s a sample card to give you some inspiration:

coLab Bingo is a great way to inject some fun into your workday, coLab style. And by having more fun at the office, you’ll boost your creativity, forge stronger bonds with those around you, and give your brain a much-needed break.
