Hey cool kids, it’s August and time for an update on all the happenings and goings-on at co+Lab. If you don’t already know, co+Lab Buzz is a regular column that features news on members of our super-awesome coworking space.
I’ve been out of commission for a while because I’ve been canoeing/rafting down the Fraser River with the Sustainable Living Leadership Program for the past 25 days (featured in Cap News), learning about threats facing BC’s longest river, experiencing 13 of the province’s varied biogeoclimatic zones, and meeting people from communities along the way. I definitely recommend this program for people who are interested to know more about environmental issues and governance in BC, are looking to connect with BC’s wild spaces, improve their community organizing and leadership skills, and meet an amazing network of dedicated and passionate people. The program takes place every year, and 2016’s program is less than a year away. See: http://rivershed.com/get-involved/sustainable-living-leadership-program/about-the-sllp/ for more details.
Business has just been explodifying all over the darn place. After a long weekend away at the cabin, I came back to an inbox full of messages from new clients! I’m in the process of negotiating contracts for some fun and challenging copywriting work that I’m going to love. The next few months are going to bring some big changes, and I’m excited.”
“Fiona McGregor and I wrapped up our charity lawn bowling fundraiser aimed at young professionals in the Okanagan — On The Lawn. Over three consecutive Thursdays, we raised a total of $11,600 for Elevation Outdoors!! Woop Whoop!! It was a pleasure working with BDO, our Presenting Sponsor, the Lawn Bowling Club, Elevation Outdoors, and all the other people who donated their time, expertise, and prizes. It’s been awesome to have the support of local media – with coverage in The Daily Courier, Castanet, and KelownaNow and with appearances on on Global News, Shaw TV, and AM1150. Look forward to bringing you On The Lawn for the next couple of years! ”
